Cascara is the dried fruit and skins from the coffee cherry which surround coffee beans.  When it's dried, it can be brewed - steeped in hot water - just like a loose leaf tea.  This cascara is sweet, jammy, and bright and reminds us of raisins, lemon peel, and cane sugar.

Our cascara comes from a renowned farm in Costa Rica - Oscar and Francisca Chacon's Finca San Luis in Sabanilla de Alajuela.  This particular cascara is known as the "Perla Negra," which is taken from the top selection of their harvest and certified organic.  Simply put, this is the best cascara we have ever tried - full of complexity, lots of dried fruit flavors, sweet baking spices, and a pleasant tartness.  It's great both hot and iced.

Cascara comes in a 4 ounce package and will ship within 1-2  days when placing an order.

For brewing, we recommend 1 gram of Cascara for every 1 ounce of water.  We brew a 10 ounce mug with 10 grams and let it steep for about 7 minutes.

It can be brewed stronger or scaled up without affecting the flavors, it simply becomes more robust.  It also makes a great simple syrup or shrub for cocktails, drinks, etc.
